Lisa Shimeld has owned and operated Alpacas del Valle Cereza with her husband Brad Johnson since 1996. Lisa has been deeply involved in the alpaca industry on both the local and national levels. She served on the Alpaca Fiber Cooperative of North America (AFCNA) as both a Director and as the President of the organization. She helped found the local AOBA affiliate, Alpaca Breeders of Southern California (SoCalpaca) and served as President for 3 years. Lisa is an AOBA certified judge and also a certified livestock appraiser.

In her “other life” Lisa is a Professor of Microbiology and has taught for over 25 years. She has published a variety of books in the biological sciences including “Essentials of Diagnostic Microbiology.” Lisa is currently working on a research project examining the prevalence of BVDV in the Southern California alpaca population.
